My questions to the author.

During reading this story I was suprised by some situations and have made some questions:
I wandered what did Mr de Winter like in Daphne?
Will Daphne say "yes" immediately on his proposal?because there is no way they can meet again.Also I don't think  he wanted her to think about it for a long time.
What will be Mrs.Van Hooper's reaction on their marriage?Mrs.Van Hooper is woman on whom Daphne works.She calls her "companion".
What will happened after their marriage?
What would happened if Daphne said "no"?
Why Mr de Winter wanted her to be his wife?
What the purpose of existance of Mrs.Van Hooper in this novel?
For what did the author create heroes with a big age differende?What did he want to tell or show by these?

My idea of Daphne.

So this is the way how I imagine Daphne -the woman who appeared before me in the beginning of the story.Now she is rather smart and educated woman,but she is telling us about time when she was young.
She was very shy unexperienced and young lady.She was wearing poor and unfashinable clothes.Her hair were short and light.She tells it by herself,that when she was young she looked very radiculously and she didn't understand why such a handsome man like Maxim de Winter wanted her to be his wife.
I guess that the first day when she came to Manderlay estate is represented on this picture.She said that she looked like a stupid girl who knows nothing.Then she really forgot about the most elementary knoweledge of behaviour.She looked scared and lost.
This picture is completely expressed my idea of Daphne.

My questions and the first impression of the book.

The book starts with the story of a woman.I still didn't understand how old she is.She is telling us about her youth.She also tells us about the man. His name is Max de Winter ,I guess he is her husband,who is a very strange and reserved person.They had met when he was in a difficult situation ,his wife died and he had a depression.He owned the estate Manderley,it is also a mysterious place for me,he had been living there for a long time with his wife Rebecca,I guess that Rebecca is his wife's name ,who is dead ,but the cause of her death is unclear for me.So I exactly know that after his wife's death Maх de Winter lives with this very woman(who tells us the story) in a little hotel,and they don't want to return to the Manderlay.

I have a lot of questions :who is his wife?why does this book calls Rebecca if the woman who starts this story is not Rebecca exactly?what secret is kept in the estate Manderley?and what will be farther with this woman , what is her role in this book?

Daphne du Maurier "Rebecca"

Daphne du Maurier is an English novelist ,biographer and playwright , who published romantic suspense novels.She is best known for Rebecca(1938),filmed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1940 and won the Best Picture Oscar in 1941.
Last year I came into university library to take some book in English to read.I asked the librarian to advise me something not difficult and interesting. She advised me this very book- Daphne du Maurier "Rebecca".I took it but unfortunately I had no time to read it because of my homework.This year when we were given a task to read a book in English I didn't know what to choose.because there are a lot of interesting books in the world. Then I remembered the book which had been lying on my shelf already for a year and I decided to read it now.I can exactly say that I haven't regreted about my choice.
